Looking Forward to a Productive Interim

May 2017
Heading into the interim before my fourth session as your delegate, I am dedicated to being as productive as ever—ensuring that I reach every corner of our district in order to fulfill my promise to listen. I have been fortunate enough to visit several neighborhood association meetings and other locations around our district. This blog will provide updates from those meetings and events.
Out in the Community
Community association meetings are a very useful venue for neighbors to share their concerns and strive for solutions in an intimate setting. That is why I endeavor to attend as many as I can; it is both convenient and effective. Adding to the list of meetings I have attended so far this interim, I have made it to the New Broadway East Community Association, Belair-Edison Community Association, Glenham Belhar Community Association, Waltherson Community Association, Cedmont Community Association, Bocek Community Association, Frankford Community Association, and Hamilton Hills Community Association meetings. I am grateful to have made it to these meetings and I look forward to attending more moving forward.
Representing the 45th
Recently I was given the opportunity to speak with students at the Community College of Baltimore County. I extend a sincere thank you to my friend Eric Washington for letting me speak to his Speech class about public speaking and about the General Assembly. I could tell that his class was bright and motivated and they will make us all proud.
I also had the opportunity to travel to Washington D.C. to participate in the “Apprenticeship Forward” conference held by the National Skills Coalition. I was given the opportunity to speak about the important work we are doing to strengthen apprenticeships in Maryland, including the effort to pass House Bill 467 this year and House Bill 676 in 2016.
I found myself in D.C. again to speak on a panel for the American Society of Reproductive Medicine about effectively advocating for progress on issues in the State Legislature.
45th District Scholarship Committee
The first District Scholarship Committee meeting for 2017 took place. We had a productive meeting and, among other things, resolved to hold scholarship interviews on Saturday, June 24th. Details on the interviews will be provided at a later date.
Invest in our Future
I think of each donation you make to my campaign as an investment and my staff and I work 7 days a week to make sure you see a return on that investment. Be it economic opportunity, better education, improved transportation, or grassroots community building, you deserve to see the outcomes that matter to you. Each dollar you donate helps us stay in the game so that we can show you those outcomes. Please consider contributing to my campaign, be it $1, $5, or $10. Every bit helps us to help the community.
Listening. Learning. Leading.
