Wishing You a Happy Thanksgiving
As the end of this year approaches and we prepare for Thanksgiving, it would serve us all well to take a moment to reflect on the things that we are thankful for. In this letter I would like to recount the things that I am thankful for: family, friends, and fighting for families in the 45th legislative district.
Reflecting on what this year has brought for my family, we have been truly blessed. We welcomed my fourth child into this world; Bryson Daniel McCray, who was born early in the month of July. My son Cory Jr., has started to walk, talk, and–finally–sleep through the night. I have spent my weekends watching my two daughters, Kennedy and Reagan, take swimming lessons at the Y of Central Maryland, roller skating lessons at Hot Skates, and ice skating lessons at Mount Pleasant. And, of course, I am especially thankful to have celebrated another year with my wife, Demetria.
In my first year as your delegate, we have been lucky to have a dedicated office staff that continues to work to deliver effective and efficient service. I am thankful for Tamika, who has been a wonder to work with. Her dedication to resolving constituent issues, coordinating and attending neighborhood events, and helping me to navigate the legislative process is truly an asset to us all. I have been blessed to work with Travis, who is a law student at the University of Maryland, Baltimore. He has done a great job helping me to prepare for hearings, preparing communications, and various other special projects. Last, it has been a pleasure to work with Brittany, who is a senior at Towson University and a resident of the 45th district. She has done an exceptional job helping us to tell our story about the work we have been doing for our community.
Finally, I am thankful for the opportunity to fight for the families in the 45th district. My office and I strive toward one goal – to put the families in our district first. Whether the issue is illegal dumping, providing resources for our district’s children, awarding scholarships for higher education, transparency, agreements to help bring good jobs to the 45th district, advocating for better transit, more resources for our district or the like, we have put forth our best effort to help the families in the 45th district to thrive.
This world we live in may seem especially chaotic at the moment, but we still have much to be thankful for. Whether you reflect on the moments you spent with your family, friends, or fighting to improve the lives of your neighbors, you should still take the time to count your blessings. Even if all you have to be thankful for are small victories, take just a moment to be thankful.
Happy Thanksgiving,
