Small Victories in the 45th
As the summer months wane into the fall yet-to-come, we move closer to the next legislative session. But, that means it is critical to stay active and engaged in order to be ready to make true progress. Today, I want to provide you with updates on the strides we are making in the 45th district.
Small Victories in the 45th
There are large battles to be fought, and won, for the residents of the 45th district and the citizens of Baltimore City. But, if we can achieve even a small victory then we have a shared responsibility to roll up our sleeves and try. While small victories may be just that – small – sometimes the cumulative effect of many such victories is large, positive change.
That is why my office and I have started an initiative to document the small victories won on behalf of the 45th district. Here, you can find a video detailing how I was able to help a resident-neighbor tackle illegal dumping in Herring Run Park. If you are having a similar issue or any other issue, never hesitate to contact my office and we can work together to find a solution.
In the District
I teamed with the Attorney General’s office to address the Armstead Gardens Community regarding a law that was passed in 2014 affecting Co-ops. As “the people’s lawyer” the Attorney General’s office is committed to employing their knowledge and expertise for the benefit of us all. Karen, who represented the Attorney General’s office was well received by the attendees.
Recently, Major Ward of the Eastern Police District hosted a neighborhood walk through the Darley Park community. I joined many other exceptional community leaders for this walk, during which we discussed how to address sanitation issues, housing issues, and other concerns throughout this community.
The United Democratic Women of Maryland invited me to speak with them about my journey up to and after getting elected to represent the 45th legislative district. We also discussed the successes from this previous legislative session, as well as the opportunities we can make progress on in the next session. I am honored to have been invited to speak with this inspirational group.
I also had the opportunity to meet with the president and some representatives of Tenax, Inc. Tenax is a local manufacturing company operating within the 45th legislative district. They employ a little under 50 workers and they manufacture plastic fencing and netting, and environmentally friendly bags.
